The Woodlanders Jaguars girls’ football club, based in Bradley near Huddersfield, has new jackets for it’s under 11 and 12 teams, which will go over their kit, following sponsorship from Leeds-based Reward Finance Group.
Having started with just seven players last season the team now has a squad of 22 and is keen to welcome even more girls to join the team. The coaches have ensured the girls will have fun whatever their ability. So, as well as playing the traditional eleven-a-side football, the girls are now being coached in Futsal, which is five-a-side game with hockey-sized goals and a ball with reduced bounce. It is designed to help players develop their ability to play in tight situations, pass more accurately and understand tactics.
Chairman of the Woodlanders Jaguars girls’ football team, Gary Kelley, said;
“We are on the lookout for community partners to support the girls in their journey to play football, so it is great that Reward Finance has started the ball rolling by very kindly sponsoring the jackets.”
“Having started with a small group of primary school girls struggling to get support to play football, it is amazing how the club has grown over the last year. Even though there are now 22 girls in the squad we are still keen to recruit more. As well as playing regular games, we train on Tuesdays and Thursdays and our “drop in” football sessions are proving very popular.”
Speaking about the sponsorship, Gemma Wright, Commercial Director at alternative finance provider Reward Finance Group, said;
“We are always keen to support local activities such as this one, as the club provides an excellent community hub for the girls, their parents and siblings. It is also great to be able to provide support for girls’ football, which is growing so fast. It’s wonderful seeing so many involved at the club, and the team spirit is fantastic. We were delighted to be able to sponsor the jackets for the teams, so they look the part when they take on other teams.”
